May 2023: We are delighted that University Hospitals Dorset in Poole is now recruiting participants to MND-SMART.

This is the first ever drug trial for MND to be conducted at this site, and will open up new opportunities for people living with MND in the vicinity of Poole.

The team says:

We are delighted to be part of the MND-SMART trial here at University Hospitals Dorset.  The MND-SMART trial has potential to be a game changer in finding new treatments that can slow amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) in a short space of time due to its adaptive multi-arm, multi-stage design.  This means that drugs not showing an effect can be removed and new drugs added on without having to set up a new trial.

The appointments are flexible, many can be completed using the telephone or secure video calling where possible and medications courier to participants’ home where its not possible to collect.
