Mr Stevie Morris

Dec 2024: Remembering Mr Stevie Morris for his advocacy and invaluable contributions to MND-SMART through his work as a Patient Advisory Group member.

Stevie became a vital member of the MND-SMART Patient Advisory Group when we launched the trial in 2020, and from the very start, he brought something truly special to the table—an infectious passion for finding new treatments and, ultimately, a cure for Motor Neuron Disease (MND).

Despite living with the disease , Stevie’s energy never wavered. He was always there for the MND-SMART team, offering invaluable advice on protocol developments and patient-facing communications. His insights shaped how we engaged with patients and the documents we presented to them, making sure we stayed focused on their needs and lived their experiences. Stevie’s words, “nothing is worse than living with MND,” were powerful and served as a constant reminder of the importance of the work we do, and of the hope we strive to bring to those affected by MND.

What defined Stevie was not just his incredible contributions to the trial but also his unwavering humour, dignity, and fight. Even in the face of immense challenges, Stevie never lost his sense of humour or his resolve.

Stevie’s legacy will forever be embedded in the MND-SMART team. His relentless drive for progress will continue to inspire us as we work towards finding new treatments for MND.

We send our love and deepest condolences to Mary, their children, and all of Stevie’s friends and family during this difficult time. Our thoughts are with you, and we will always remember Stevie’s remarkable spirit and contribution to MND-SMART.
